COPA 2010

After a good deal of turmoil over where to host the 10th Anniversary Copa Cabana we've finally found it a home.  We're moving out of Nottingham and setting up on a mile square plot of golden untouched sand on the east coast of Britain and have plans for both an Elite (Champagne) division, a Standard (Open) division and are contemplating a Pimms (mixed) and a Lambrini (women's) division as well.

This site was initial scouted for our smaller beach event the Copa del Soul but has two locations each with different capacities and purposes. The site offers beach camping and space for as many as 20 pitches.  Additionally we've got a single massive Copa Cabana Party Tent resembling something more like the Paganello big top with space for 1000 people including the Copa stage.  The beach comes equipped with with a 30 foot cold beer trailer provided by our local bar and sponsor to make sure nobody runs dry at this mega-event.   This one is going to be HUGE!

Starting with a welcome party on the 27th with games running from Saturday the 28th until Monday the 30th, it's 3 days of good Ultimate and 3 nights of the sleepless good times that the Copa has grown it's reputation for.

  • The Copa Cabana 10th Anniversary is officially on Beach! Registration has been moved to March 1st to allow for minor adjustments.
  • Copa del Soul going really well! Copa Cabana...not so much. Our new hosts have cold feet. I wonder...should we move it to the Beach as well?

  • Tried creating a Twitter tag called copa2010. Turns out there's this big event, 'Copa do Mundo' or 'World Cup' in 2010 that already has it.
  • The basic structure for the website is up. www.thecopa.co.uk . Just need some content for it
  • Currently working on three additional Copas. The Copa de Crimbo (pending a decent hall), a beach Copa and a small hat (name suggestions?).
